More Re-Wilding at Chagford, Devon! Following on a successful autumn event at Chagford in 2006, a Spring Fortnight is offered during May 2007 With traces of human settlement in unspoiled countryside going back 3000 years, a rugged but accessible coastline, mild climate and sparse population, Devon can claim to be one of the few truly wild and natural areas left in the UK. Add to this a thriving organic farming and food culture, and we have the perfect venue for a Kingston Fortnight. Steeped in history on the fringe of Dartmoor, and a well-known health destination from the early 20th century, Chagford provides a welcoming atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the world. Features of the Fortnight Comfortable accommodation in a historical setting Organic Meals Riverside Walk before Breakfast Exploring Dartmoor by Ancient Farmtrack and ‘Bounds’ Coastal Walks Visit to Local Gardens Daily Treatments, ‘Gym’ & Discussions Evening Talks by Local Personalities In addition to the usual format, by popular consent the Fortnight will be extended by the participation of Day Attendees, local health enthusiasts who have been impressed after meeting members of the autumn 2006 group. Theme of the Fortnight "Realizing a Nature Cure Community" Our naturopathic ethos is gradually being adopted and extended by sensitive people around the globe. Rather than a mere ‘voice in the wilderness’ nature cure language can be heard from within the great social concerns of our times - in ecology, food production and at last, not surprisingly, in sections of conventional medicine. For better or worse, Nature Cure itself has had to move on from its former ‘bastions’ of residential set ups and formidable ‘gurus’. Now the spread of nature cure philosophy is reliant on the commitment of us all, not only towards a healthier but also a saner and safer way of living. The coming together at the Fortnight is a celebration of everyone and everything that has brought about nature cure’s increasing recognition in the community, and regeneration for its future. Dates: Sunday 6th May to Sunday 20th May Cost Inclusive: £1260 Stewart Mitchell, disciple of Alec Milne at Kingston since the 1970’s, conducts the Fortnight. Now practising in Chagford and Exeter, Devon, Stewart is an Honorary Fellow at Peninsula Medical School at Plymouth, and Adjunct Professor of Naturopathy for Clayton College in Alabama USA.
