If Kingston was the ‘home’ of Nature Cure, Devon could be the ‘land’ of NC. With traces of human settlement in unspoiled countryside going back 3000 years, a rugged but accessable coastline, mild climate and sparse population, Devon can claim to be one of the few truly wild and natural areas left in the UK. Add to this a thriving organic farming and food culture, and we have the perfect venue for a Kingston Fortnight. The locality chosen for the Fortnight is Chagford, a charming small town on the fringe of Dartmoor which attracts visitors from all over the world. Features of the Fortnight Comfortable accommodation in a historical setting Organic Meals Riverside Walk before Breakfast Exploring Dartmoor by Ancient Farmtrack and ‘Bounds’ Coastal Walks Visit to Riverside Organic Farm for Lunch Daily Treatments, ‘Gym’ & Discussions Theme of the Fortnight “Real Health is rarely placid” Nature Cure demonstrates that we get healthy not so much from chasing after elusive truths and elixirs, as from utilizing what we already have and being who we are. For the majority of us, given basic requirements the human system is reliably self-sufficient. Naturopaths recognized generations ago that in our over-civilized world, what actually creates health is stimulation in how we eat and use our food, from contact with nature and the elements, from good company and quite importantly, from gently pushing ourselves to our potential. In the language of the environmentalist, what we need is regularly 're-wilding'! Dates: Sunday 15th to Friday 27th October Cost Inclusive: £1080 The Fortnight is being conducted by Stewart Mitchell, who crafted his naturopathy with Alec Milne at Kingston in the 1970’s. Now practising in Chagford and Exeter, Devon, Stewart is an Honorary Fellow at Peninsula Medical School at Plymouth, and Adjunct Professor of Naturopathy for Clayton College in Alabama USA.
